Spring One Room Challenge

Providing polish with the adorne® Collection.

July 30, 2021

It takes creativity, talent and a dash of straight-up courage to participate in the annual Spring One Room Challenge

The premise is simple: completely transform a single room while documenting and sharing the process online. The work itself is not.

This spring, 20 designers spent eight weeks thoroughly breaking their selected room down to its barest core… and then building it back up as something truly beautiful. But don’t just take our word for it; check out the sensational results from our favorite featured designers below, and get all the home décor ideas you need for your next project:

Bloom Wild with Bari J Designs – ORC Bathroom Reveal

Wowzers, what a transformation. With this primary bathroom makeover, we see a stifled and dated space evolve into an art-deco masterpiece. Proclaiming the project to be all about shapes and color, designer Bari J brought geometry out to play – take that, math class – with circles, arches and hexagons dominating from floor to wall to light fixture, while a smattering of white rectangles (tiling around the tub and sleek adorne® devices throughout) catch the eye for a little contrast.

Dressing Rooms Interiors Studio – ORC Kitchen Reveal

The satin black cabinets. The intricacy of the backsplash tiling, the pattern complemented by the simplicity of adorne® outlets in white. The texture of the custom fabric shade and the luxe brass hardware. There’s just so much to love about this bold, high-style kitchen makeover by Ariene Bethea of Dressing Rooms Interiors Studio. Even the stools at the island counter go for maximum sophistication – leather and more brass, with enough cushion to be comfortable. Plus, the artful accents and visible wares through the glass cabinets, not to mention the pops of color provided by produce and greenery, create some appetizing dimension set against the sharp, dark and neutral backdrop.

Susan Hill Interior Design – ORC Game Room Reveal

There are no losers in a game room this gorgeous. It’s a win just to be in such a lushly curated space – doesn’t that velvet sectional just demand to be lounged upon! In updating a playroom to fit the maturing tastes and needs of a gaming-enthusiast 9-year-old, designer Susan Hill created a space that is welcoming and vibrant without being childish. The oversized ottoman, hot dog throw pillow and printed beanbag chair are just a few of the details that keep things playful and cozy, while the surrounding assembly of colors and textures have a polished sense of style that appeals to all ages. The warmth of the brick hue used on the couch and walls is echoed in the red oak wood shelves and grounded by various shades of gray. Opting for the adorne® sofTap Dimmer, Pop-Out Outlet, 15A Outlet and USB module in a magnesium finish fit the palette perfectly while adding functionality the whole family can appreciate.

Sachi Lord Design Co. – ORC Bedroom Reveal

Airy, calming, exquisitely balanced. That’s the overall sense when you look at the completed bedroom by designer Sachi Lord. Pulling together a collection of soft, neutral tones and natural materials made for a creamy sanctuary of wood and woven textiles. Letting structural elements, like the slanted wood ceiling and wall of windows, inspire and inform her design, Sachi was ultimately able to work with the space’s shape (instead of against it) and the result is heavenly. Check out the perfectly placed canopy bed, with the unexpected-but-brilliant chandelier overhead. Its bit of glitz helps elevate the room, while the simplicity of its form keeps it at ease with exposed wood. The shades and pillows in linen, the drapery and headboard in Oyster fabric and wool, the adorne® devices and sconce covers all in gentle white – these are literally the details dreams are made of…
