Legrand Features Active Optical HDMI Cables that Deliver 4k, Ultra HD and HDR Content to Distances Up to 75 Meters at CEDIA

SAN DIEGO, September 7, 2017 – Legrand, the global specialist in electrical and digital building infrastructures, highlights four new Active Optical (AOC) HDMI cables at CEDIA 2017 that can distribute high-definition HDMI signals, including 4K UltraHD and HDR content, and other high-speed, high-performance AV features, to distances of up to 75 meters (246 feet).

These 18Gbps AOC HDMI Cables, available in lengths of 10 meters (32.8 feet; Model AC2F10-BK), 20 meters (65.6 feet; Model AC2F20-BK), 50 meters (164 feet; Model AC2F50-BK) and 75 meters (246.1 feet; Model AC2F75-BK), distribute content with 100 percent reliability and no signal loss or dropouts. Ideal for light commercial and residential projects, the cables are constructed with plastic optical fiber, allowing optimum performance at extended distances and added flexibility for easy installation in tight spaces.

Self-powered by the source device to which they are connected, these cables eliminate the need for external power adapters. The HDMI connection ends are also color-coded to ensure correct directional installation and offer an enhanced grip to provide the most secure connection points. The new cables are CMP Plenum rated, which covers both CMG and CL2-3 for in-wall use in commercial and residential installations.

“We regularly hear from our customers that new video standards challenge them to find cables that will reliably deliver higher resolution content over extended distances,” said Fritz Werder, Legrand VP and general manager, On-Q and Nuvo lines. “These cables effectively future-proof residential and light commercial spaces for new technologies, while offering more flexibility and options for monitor placement, as well as fewer points of failure versus traditional signal extender products. They will solve a lot of problems for installers.”

The cables have been third-party tested to ensure their ability to handle the full 18Gbps data speeds necessary to deliver today’s 4K/UHD 60Hz video resolution, which delivers four times the picture density and noticeably clearer images than the 1080p high-definition standard. Products equipped to play or display vibrant, color-rich HDR content require cables that can deliver high-speed, high-bandwidth performance.
