This large and contemporary beachside home, located in the small coastal city of Laguna Beach, California features a flowing indoor/outdoor design consistent with the contemporary California beach lifestyle. Perfect for its homeowners, consisting of a young and growing family, they looked for a simple-to-use but sophisticated lighting system and controls to complement their home and lifestyle.

Challenge:
The keypad needed to speak to the homeowners’ contemporary aesthetic tastes and blend in with the modern and clean theme of the home. Lighting system interfaces, which include additional physical touchscreen devices, and the adorne® keypad are both subtle and eye-catching. The family also sought the latest technology available for keypads with capabilities that included multitouch functionality, mobile phone app control, and simple modifications to meet evolving family needs. The ability to create a scene, such as a subtle warm dim for entertaining and change to another scene for task lighting with a touch of button was important to them. Also, for the sunny beach location, they needed a keypad with backlighting features so that button scene descriptives are visible night and day including in direct sunlight.
Solution:
The combination of the adorne® Low-Voltage Keypad and Equinox fit the bill, combining modern design aesthetic with the desired scene control. The keypad showcases a unique blend between backlighting and capacitive Touch™. The homeowner was able to select from 1, 3, or 6-button options for adorne® and Equinox to match the requirements of each space in the home.
