Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very safe and effective I was almost ready to return it because it did not fit into the small metal wall box with the old BX cable wiring in my 1939 house. Someone suggested using a Wire-mold surface box with pigtails connecting to the ancient wiring. It worked and we love the new GFCI switch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This switch was just what the doctor ordered. The switch with its multiple functions addressed ALL of my requirements. Its simple design allowed me to install it in the original electrical box without making any alterations.

Want to just use this as a switch for the outlet ( turn the pool filter on and off  with it plugged in ). I still have the two wires non connected. The plug works just not the switch to turn the plug off. No diagram shows this option.

To have the switch control the power to the outlet, you need to connect the wire as follows using the 2 black leads from the switch: One black lead to HOT from breaker One black lead to HOT terminal - line side of GFCI White Neutral wires get connected to Silver terminal on line side of GFCI. Can this product be wired in such a way that the switch will control the receptacle and be GFCI protected also?

Asked by: Tommy
Thank you for your question regarding Legrand Combination Tamper-Resistant 15A Self-Test Single-Pole Switch/GFCI, Light Almond (1597SWTTRLACCD4). Yes, there are multiple ways to wire this switch/GFCI combination. To have the switch control power to the outlet, you connect one of the black leads coming off the switch to a HOT wire and the remaining black lead would get connected to the LINE/HOT terminal for the GFCI and connect your NEUTRAL(s) wire to the GFCI Silver terminal. We purchased the switch GFCI outlet, there are 2 black wires coming from the product, we have no clue what those are supposed to be for. Help--there isn't a diagram anywhere that shows these two black wires coming out of the product.

Asked by: Shamrockdos
Good Morning, These 2 side by side wires are the wires for the switch. The one on the left is the hot (you will put this in the Load Hot set of holes), and the one more on the right attaches to your load (light, fan). Hope this helps!
